Mayoral Candidates Continue Activities

On Wednesday, VMRO-DPMNE Skopje mayoral candidate Orce Gjorgjievski presented plans for two new secondary schools and a process for energy transformation of all existing such institutions in the capital.

“Every secondary school will get photovoltaics, new facades, thermal insulation, and smart systems to monitor energy consumption. Digitalisation will be introduced, too, with fast internet, smart blackboards, projectors, and digital contents”, the mayoral candidate stressed.

Gjorgjievski also pointed out that youth clubs for art, music, theatre, and technology would be formed, in addition to career centres for helping people choose a profession.

ZNAM’s Centar mayoral candidate, Miroslav Labudovic, presented plans to solve garbage issues, saying the Municipality belonged to all people in Skopje, not only to residents of Centar. He also criticised the outgoing Mayor, Danela Arsovska, saying she’d done nothing for 44 months before she’d gotten active in the previous four.

When it comes to SDSM’s Centar mayoral candidate, Goran Gerasimovski, who’s running for another term, he stated that in 2026, one-time monetary assistance for pensioners would increase from 2,500 to 5,000 denars. In addition, he stated that a nursing home would be built.

The opposition party’s Skopje mayoral candidate, Kaja Sukova, on her part, visited Butel where she stated that there would be new streets, clean parks, connected settlements, and local authorities that listened to what citizens had to say.

Aleksandar Trajanovski, endorsed in the Skopje mayoral race by the Experience for Success Coalition, presented a plan for multistorey car parks and a nursing home.

In Cair, during a televised debate between the two candidates, National Alliance for Integration-endorsed Bujar Osmani and VLEN-endorsed Izet Mexhiti, the former stated that he would start work at 5 am and that among his main priorities would be to solve issues with illegal structures and corruption. However, Mexhiti ironically remarked that the outgoing Mayor, Danela Arsovska, had started off by beginning work at 5 am but had ultimately created the chaos in the capital.

When it comes to Cair, Mexhiti, who currently serves as 1st Deputy PM and Environment Minister, pointed out that the central Government allocated record-high amounts for the Municipality.

In Gjorce Petrov, VMRO-DPMNE’s mayoral candidate, Aleksandr Stojkoski, who’s running for another term, said that the full reconstruction of the road from the lower part of Novo Selo to St Archangel Gabriel Church was starting.

In Struga, Levica’s Council candidate, Elizabeta Pintoska, said there would be a solution to the illegal landfill problem.
