Research on corruption risks in public procurement in the health sector, conducted by the Center for Civil Communications, shows that from 2015 to 2024 funds for tenders rose from almost 126 million euros to over 315 million.
Number of hospital cases in that period fell by 14% even though the worth of tenders in the frames of hospitals increased from 62 million to 198 million.
“The obvious disproportion between spending and quality of services strengthens the impression that public procurement isn’t a realistic reflection of needs and interests of citizens, and additionally feeds distrust and corruption suspicions”, the Center says.
