Households and companies will not be allowed to dispose of garbage from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. The decision was made by the City of Skopje’s Council, upon a proposal from Mayor Gjorgjievski.
Local authorities stated that the decision would enable more efficient emptying of trash containers and prevent mini-landfills from being created around them. Everyone violating the ban will be fined 50 euros. However, in the initial period, authorities will issue only warnings. Previously, the Council, with 37 votes in favor, one against, and one abstention, had passed the Budget rebalance.
Gjorgjievski stated that the rebalance was reducing the financial hole by 15 million euros. There will be more funds for capital investments, while money is foreseen for construction of streets, roundabouts, as well as for the intersection near Momin Potok as well. 70,000 euros will be used for the holiday season decoration and New Year’s Eve.
