Mickoski: If They Find One Illegal Immigrant by Spring, I’ll Withdraw from Politics

PM Hristijan Mickoski reacted to the latest accusations by SDSM leader Filipche over the allegations for importing failed asylum seekers from the UK in North Macedonia.

“I give them time, to Filipche and to Ljubomir Frchkovski and Andrej Zhernovski, to find by spring 2026 a single illegal immigrant from the UK in our country, and I shall immediately withdraw from politics completely. If they fail, I expect them to come out with apologies. The pressure for Filipche to resign as party leader after the catastrophic defeat at the local election is enormous, so he tries to deflect it by making up stories about illegal immigrants”, Mickoski said.

Quizzed about the announced protest for support of KLA fighters that will take place on Saturday in Skopje, PM Mickoski said that neither he nor the government supports the protest.

“Still, it is our duty to make sure that everything goes peaceful and without incidents. A crisis headquarters will be established for monitoring of the protest, in order to prevent any form of radical behavior and escalations”, Mickoski underscored.

He also said that Chair Mayor Izet Mexhiti may have been pressured into supporting the protest by the organizers, allegedly because if he did not, he would lose political points.
