In his communication to Parliament about his irrevocable resignation as Prosecutor General sent on Tuesday morning, Kocevski says he is leaving with his head held high.
“I’ve claimed since the start that the potential procedure to dismiss me is a political decision, which is why I’ve submitted an irrevocable resignation”, he points out.
Afterwards, in a statement for media, Kocevski stated that he was disappointed over the obvious non-respect for the principles on which the legal state rested.
On the other hand, commenting on his decision, VMRO-DPMNE said the resignation was ending a dark period in which the Prosecutor’s Office had been perceived as a partisan mechanism instead of as an independent institution serving the law.
SDSM, however, said the pressure for Kocevski to leave was part of the broader scenario of VMRO-DPMNE and PM Mickoski to take control over the Prosecutor’s Office and judiciary.
