SDSM leader Venko Filipche said the party will back the proposed Law on Misdemeanors, which is key for launching the “Safe City” system. He stressed that such a traffic safety system is needed not only in Skopje but across major cities and national roads.
“However, there are two major concerns: the handling of large amounts of data generated by the system, posing risks of misuse, and the level of fines, which must be debated in Parliament. SDSM will only push issues that serve citizens’ interests, not those that benefit the ruling party”, Filipche said.
Asked whether Parliament could request a three‑month delay in the system’s rollout, Filipche said everything is possible “if there is genuine political will,” criticizing the government for avoiding real debate.
