The Prosecutor’s Office has ordered an investigative procedure against a 20-year-old resident of Mala Rechica suspected of terrorism. According to the press release, issued on Friday, the suspect, at the end of last month, on Discord, made a serious threat that he was ready to carry out an attack by using an AK-47.
The person, prosecutors said, who is with impaired mental health, was inspired by the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. After information had been received from the U.S. Embassy in Skopje that the FBI had submitted a request to urgently discover a Discord account in North Macedonia from where the serious threats had come, the Interior Ministry, in coordination with prosecutors, took action to identify the perpetrator.
On 17 February, a home and other premises in Mala Rechica were searched in relation to the suspect, during which an axe, five knives, a telescope, iPhones, and a computer were found. Also, authorities seized a gun from the suspect’s father, for which he has a permit, and multiple pieces of ammo.
For the other weapons found during the searches, a gun and an automatic rifle, the suspect’s grandfather didn’t have a permit. He has been charged in relation to that.
