Ivana and Katja Case Focal Point at Parliament’s Session Marking March 8

At Parliament’s session on Thursday, held to mark International Women’s Day (March 8), President Siljanovska Davkova said she refused to celebrate it under conditions where, due to a dysfunctional system, the country had lost Ivana and Katja (the mother and daughter who died in Karposh on Monday) and faced a series of femicide cases.

In her speech, the President emphasized that she couldn’t celebrate March 8 while systemic failures continued to endanger the lives of women in Macedonia. LDP MP and leader Zajkova criticized what she said was institutional silence over threats and domestic violence report. The same day, she submitted the bill for e-tags for perpetrators again.
