With 66 votes in favor, two against, eight abstentions, at its session on Wednesday, Parliament elected Nenad Saveski as Prosecutor General.
VMRO-DPMNE MP Jovan Jauleski said Saveski would have an obligation to establish a standard where a prosecutor became synonymous with legality and the protection of the public good, as well as to and institutionally clear up the consequences of the Special Prosecutor’s Office.
European Front MPs Skender Rexhepi, Ilir Hasani, and Halil Snopce pointed out that they expected Saveski to reopen the cases of concerning the 2021 Tetovo hospital fire, the process related to last decade’s death of young Almir, as well as the Monster and Alpha ones. Although she didn’t level specific criticism at Saveski, SDSM MP Jovanka Trenchevska said the government wanted to turn him into its own servant.
