Former State Attorney Fehmi Stafa has been charged with accepting a reward for unlawful influence in the case of Ljupcho Pecov (a.k.a. the Devil), the suspect in the Chain case.
According to the charge, Stafa, who’s an attorney, received a total of 50,000 euros to mediate and use his real influence to intervene with a judge at the Appellate Court Skopje and, through bribery, influence an official action that wasn’t supposed to be allowed to be performed.
Stafa was arrested in December 2025, while he was receiving the money, which, according to the investigation, was intended for an Appellate Court judge. Allegedly, it’s about Judge Gjoko Ristov.
Stafa has been in detention since his arrest, while an extension of the measure has been sought by the Prosecutor’s Office. Some of the other individuals involved in the case are under house arrest.
