94 Anniversaries to Be Marked This Year

A record-high 94 anniversaries will be marked this year. Parliament has passed the program for marking jubilee anniversaries of significant events and prominent figures.

Although 95 were initially included in the proposal, both opposition and ruling majority MPs, following a proposal from SDSM parliamentarian Bisera Kostadinovska-Stojchevska, rejected on Monday a commemoration of the 15th anniversary of the death of former Interior Minister Dimovska.

According to Kostadinovska-Stojchevska, if the 15th anniversary is marked, “we will then have to mark jubilees of death or birth of former Interior Ministers every year”.

Among the jubilees that will be marked is the 80th anniversary of the birth of Milaim Fejziu. In 1992, Fejziu was one of the initiators of the ethnic Albanians’ referendum. In 2021, he was advocating federalization of North Macedonia during the founding of the party “Republic of Ilirida”.
