Bilateral issues must not at any moment stop the enlargement process, Belgium’s Foreign Minister, Prevot, said during his visit to Skopje on Wednesday. At the joint press conference with counterpart Mucunski, he assured that North Macedonia could count on Belgium as a firm and reliable ally that unambiguously supported the country’s EU path.
The Belgian Minister stressed that he would continue to advocate for progress on reforms and compliance with the Copenhagen criteria.
Regarding the context of the dispute with Bulgaria and North Macedonia’s demands for guarantees on the integration path, Minister Prevot’s stand is that to Belgium, there is a clear commitment that North Macedonia should be given an assurance that there will not be another blockade or obstacle once the required constitutional changes are made. Mucunski welcomed Belgium’s continuous and principled support.
