German Foreign Minister Wadephul has called for the abolition of the principle of unanimity in the EU in the area of foreign and security policy, as well as for it to be replaced with the principle of majority voting.
In a democracy, the majority principle is the norm, whereas unanimity is the exception, he stated at a joint press conference with his Irish counterpart Helen McEntee in London.
The German Minister stated that the democratic norm had to be turned into a norm in the EU as well.
