Parliament Passes Law to Abolish Przhino Format of Government

On Wednesday, Parliament, with 70 votes in favor and 11 against, passed the law abolishing the Przhino format of government, which will be done following the next parliamentary elections. The session was marked by fierce accusations.

Public Administration Minister Minchev said SDSM’s goal was not to participate in the next parliamentary polls. However, SDSM MP Spasovski said his party remained convinced that society was not mature enough for the abolition of the model.

“Unilaterally abolishing this kind of transitional government this way, without respecting the guidelines and principles upon which it was passed, can at no point be presented as some kind of reform or progress of the societal system”, he stated.

In response, however, VMRO-DPMNE MP Ljupcho Prendjov said the CoE said the country was a mature democracy. The DUI-led European Front left the session. Previously, it had requested that the draft changes be reviewed by the Intercommunity Relations Committee.

Regarding the last item on the agenda of the session on Wednesday, which concerns the so-called one citizenship per MP bill, it was postponed.
