PM Mickoski, regarding SDSM leader Filipche’s stand that Bulgaria does not deny the Macedonian identity, said that “the good news is that there will be elections soon and that SDSM as a party will be marginalized”.
Prior to that, he had always stated that the plan was for elections to be held in the so-called regular period, i.e., in 2028. A senior Government official said that they did not believe there would be early parliamentary elections in 2026, though they didn’t rule out the possibility of such polls being organized in the spring of 2027.
Also regarding Filipche, the PM pointed out that he regretted that SDSM had once again decided to kneel to foreign interests instead of standing shoulder to shoulder with the government in defense of national interests.
Filipche, however, said that he’d heard Mickoski’s statement regarding the elections issue. He assumes the PM was talking about early parliamentary polls. The SDSM leader emphasized that his party was ready to participate in elections and that it would defeat VMRO-DPMNE.
