Mazut Case: Prosecutor’s Office yet to Respond to ESM’s Accusations

Regarding the Mazut case, the Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecution of Organized Crime and Corruption has responded to accusations from Power Plants of North Macedonia (ESM) that Prosecutor Katerina Kolarevikj arbitrarily closed the case and used statements from ESM personnel that had no competence at all as a pretext.

As it says, the people that gave the statement had been authorized by the General Manager on March 4, 2026, and knew exactly why they were summoned. It also points out that the situation was determined neither arbitrarily nor on the basis of individual statements.

In the meantime, VMRO-DPMNE has demanded an urgent investigation by judicial organs and, as it points out, an end to the silence by the Council of Public Prosecutors, asking whether corruption and bribery are behind the decision.

ESM, which received the decision on the case on Friday, is already preparing the appeal it will submit to the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office within the stipulated eight-day deadline.
