Reactions to May 18 Protest over Bar Exam Continue

Regarding the Bar Exam issue, Justice Minister Filkov’s position is that it must not turn into a field for political pressure and ethnic confrontation. The right to protest is a democratic one, but nobody has the right to demand the bringing down of criteria and standards in the judiciary through violent protests, he said on Tuesday.

The same day, in Parliament, DUI, however, demanded accountability from DPM and European Affairs Minister Sali, claiming that students from Albania had been stopped and intimidated while traveling to Skopje to express solidarity with their peers in North Macedonia.

“Many of them were deliberately stopped”, DUI MP Rina Ajdari stressed, criticizing, as she underlined, the non-respect for the constitutional right to protest.

The stopping of the Albanian students at the border was also condemned by the Albanian Ambassador to North Macedonia, Denion Meidani, who stated on social media that they had not come from Tirana to cause clashes, but to express solidarity and support. VLEN criticized DUI, stressing also that the Bar Exam issue was being resolved institutionally.
