Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, speaking at the ceremonial academy “From Word to Eternity” at Ohrid’s “St. Sophia” church on the occasion of Saints Cyril and Methodius Day, addressed issues of justice, corruption and the country’s European integration process.
Mickoski said he understands citizens’ growing impatience regarding the delivery of justice and added that he himself is not fully satisfied. He stressed that the fight against corruption must produce faster and more effective results, warning that “patience is running out” for those who, as he said, mock justice or delay institutional action.
He said he will not remain silent when mistakes are made or when institutions fail to act quickly enough, adding that his political engagement is aimed at “order, justice and the rule of law”.
He also stated that those who enrich themselves at the expense of citizens will be held accountable. The prime minister further emphasized that the country is facing a “serious and unjust blockade” in its EU integration process. He said EU membership remains necessary, but must it be achieved while preserving dignity and unity, adding that he understands, but he does not justify Bulgaria’s positions.
Mickoski called for national and intellectual unity, stating that the country must stand together regardless of political divisions. He also noted that the solution for students who want to take the bar exam in Albanian language should be above party interests.
“I am interested and ready to help in any process that will mean better and stronger education. I have no reservations about discussing the topics that are currently relevant, and for every community to have the right to advance and use its language, as long as it is within the framework of the Constitution, the laws, and as long as our identity marker, the Macedonian language, is respected. We will very soon reach a solution that everyone should support and that will rise above individual party and political interests and tendencies to get stuck in another nationalist trap”, the PM said.
