Parliament Votes through State Borrowing Bill

On Tuesday, despite tensions and fierce debates, Parliament swiftly voted through the bill on state borrowing. It will see 260 million euros secured from five international banks. The text was supported with 65 votes in favor and 14 against.

According to SDSM, the bill was pushed through by violating the Rules of Procedure and bypassing standard legislative house protocols. Its MPs also criticized the interest rates, saying they were too high.

On the other hand, the ruling majority stated that the state was paying off debts accumulated during SDSM’s time in power, adding that the loan was being secured under the best possible market conditions.
