Reactions to VSquare Story on Gruevski Citizenship Issue

North Macedonia’s Government has no information on whether former PM Gruevski has obtained Hungarian citizenship, PM Mickoski said on Friday regarding VSquare’s story according to which Gruevski obtained citizenship in 2022. The Ministry of Justice said it was closely monitoring the information related to the former PM.

Gruevski remains a citizen of North Macedonia with effective court decisions, while, therefore, the procedure for his extradition continues, according to its press release. Commenting on the case, SDSM, however, said Mickoski and Minister of Justice Filkov knew Gruevski had held Hungarian citizenship and therefore had done nothing about his extradition. Also, the 444 Hungarian portal has reported that the former PM, in the summer of 2021, started his own business and founded his own consulting firm.
