Employees in the public prosecutor’s service have warned that the prosecutor’s service bill, in its current form, does not represent a reform step forward, i.e., they have described it as a missed opportunity to implement necessary changes. They believe that the version submitted to Parliament deviated from the text prepared by the working group.
As they explained on Friday, though the law is presented as part of the reform processes and fulfillment of obligations from the Reform Agenda, the draft text does not include key solutions aimed at strengthening the independence of the Public Prosecutor’s Office and separating the public prosecutor’s service from the public administration system.
