Five Skopje Individuals Suspected of Terrorist Organization

The Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecution of Organized Crime and Corruption has opened an investigation against five individuals from Skopje, aged 22 to 34, suspected of terrorist organization. According to the Office, in late 2024, the first suspect created an internet channel and a group on a social platform where the other suspects were also members.

“During 2025 and 2026, through these communication channels, the suspects spread content promoting and supporting the ideology of the ISIS terrorist organization and other ideologically related terrorist organizations, as well as jihadist ideological materials. The goal was to spread propaganda, ideological indoctrination, and glorification of terrorist acts and their perpetrators”, the Prosecutor’s Office said on Wednesday.

Searches had been conducted the previous day at five locations in Skopje. Three of them were conducted at the Idrizovo prison, where two of the suspects are serving prison sentences for other crimes, while one is in detention. Searches were also conducted at two other locations associated with the remaining suspects.

Several electronic devices and other items were found and confiscated. One of the suspects has been issued a detention measure, while the second will be under house arrest.
