Jakimovski Sentence Decision to Be Made after Healthcare Institutions’ Response

Former Karposh Mayor Jakimovski has submitted a request to postpone serving his prison sentence in the unlawful construction case, citing health reasons. The judge for the execution of sanctions has reviewed the attached medical documentation and has submitted a verification request to both private healthcare institutions he’s referred to in the documentation. A response has to arrive before a decision can be made.

According to the Execution of Sanctions Law, the judge has a deadline of 30 days of the receipt of the request to verify the circumstances and decide whether Jakimovski’s sentence will be postponed. The Criminal Court has explained that until the decision is made, Jakimovski will not start serving the sentence.

The former Karposh Mayor submitted his request on June 12, which means the judge has to make a decision by July 12. Media reported that as a result, Jakimovski, who is blacklisted by the U.S., will not report to the Shuto Orizari prison on July 2 to start serving his sentence, as initially ordered by a judge.
