People driving vehicles with foreign license plates transiting through North Macedonia’s highways at high speeds are currently being registered by the Safe City system, but final traffic fines will not yet arrive at their home addresses until the software is fully upgraded.
During the transitional period, drivers speeding on Corridors 8 and 10 will be fined exclusively on the spot by police officers using so-called interceptor vehicles, which are continuously present in the field.
Interior Minister Toshkovski has appealed to all travelers transiting through the country to be responsible, adding that the digital system is already in use and records all violations. Soon, he adds, the fines will be delivered directly at border crossings.
