Valandovo Drinking Water Ban Lifted

The Food and Veterinary Agency has lifted the drinking water ban in Valandovo and the settlements of Chalakli, Dedeli, and Rabrovo. According to the latest analyses presented at a press conference by Mayor Gjoko Kamchev, arsenic concentrations are within permitted limits and pose no danger to public health.

Kamchev also presented documents according to which there has been compliance with all legal procedures over the past year, as well as that the two mandatory comprehensive heavy metal analyses have been completed.

However, Kamchev alleged that in the previous eight years, the public utility enterprise had performed only two out of the legally required 16 comprehensive analyses. He demanded an explanation from SDSM as to why checks had been neglected and urged authorities to thoroughly investigate the matter.

Mayor Kamchev said that extraordinary water analyses would continue in the coming period to monitor quality continuously.
