SDSM has responded to PM Mickoski’s comments about the issue of perception of corruption and about the plans for a hotline for corruption, made by him in an interview with the Rishtazi podcast.
“Yesterday, Mickoski called on citizens to report corruption and announced a free-of-charge line, but he doesn’t have to bother — our reporting line has already been open for six months at the web address Micko.mk”, the party’s Keti Shterjova said.
In the interview, Mickoski had stated a line would be opened where citizens who had been asked for a bribe would be able to report that. Talking about the perception aspect, he referred to a survey.
“A certain period of time ago, a survey conducted by a renowned firm for a renowned foreign institution was presented to us. And both local and state institutions were included in that survey. To the question ‘Is there corruption in your institution or in the country?’, 80% say ‘Yes, there is.’ To the second question ‘Have you been subject to corruption or do you know someone who has?’, under 5% of respondents at the municipal level and under 3% at the central level”, the PM stressed, saying also there were no dilemmas the perception had been created.
