Gostivar Water Contamination Case: 71 New First Contacts Registered July 28

71 new first-contact cases were registered on July 28, a figure that falls within the incidence rate recorded prior to the declaration of the epidemic — between 50 and 100 cases per day — Health Minister Klekovski said on Wednesday regarding the Gostivar case.

“We consider that the epidemic is calming down. A formal end to the epidemic has to occur only when, based on epidemiological surveys, it is determined that there are no longer cases linked to the municipal water supply in Gostivar.

I believe this improvement is a result of improved water quality in the city water supply because it has been properly chlorinated for several days, and we naturally expect a decrease in that number as soon as the residual chlorine level is achieved at all measurement points”, Klekovski said.

He believes that by the end of the week, the water will be safe to drink.
