Tashmarunishta Incident and Mickoski Speech Spark Political Accusations

On August 2, at 2:15 p.m., in the village of Tashmarunishta, S.G. (52) from Struga was deprived of liberty following a report that he had prevented an official from performing an official act after which he directed verbal insults at public officials present at an event marking Ilinden Uprising Day and Day of the Republic.

The case has sparked political accusations. VMRO-DPMNE stated that during the movement of its leader, PM Mickoski, through the crowd, the individual, under the influence of alcohol, attempting to provoke an incident, shouted words of inappropriate content.

The individual was isolated by the attending citizens and identified by members of the Ministry, according to the ruling party. During the identification process, the person produced a Bulgarian ID card and a Bulgarian travel document, it added.

However, SDSM said that was not true.

“The person (S.G., born in 1974 in Kochani) is a Macedonian citizen and holds a Macedonian ID card”.
