Water from the Gostivar supply system is still not safe for drinking. It can only be used as technical water. Authorities are continuing to conduct analyses. According to the Health Ministry’s latest data, around seventy citizens have sought medical assistance due to health issues caused by the water.
The Director of the General Hospital, Emri Bajrami, says the number of cases is decreasing at the health institution. As he noted, all new patients have mild symptoms, and one child has been hospitalized for a day or two and will soon be discharged for in-home treatment.
Meanwhile, many of those who have used the technical water for bathing and washing dishes say they are facing new health consequences, i.e., they have developed skin infections, redness, and other issues. However, Bajrami said the Gostivar Hospital hadn’t recorded an increased number of skin infections.
In the meantime, the accusations over the water contamination case between VMRO-DPMNE and SDSM have continued, while Kozhuvchanka has denied the latter’s accusations about the procurement process for bottled water.
