On social media on Sunday, PM Mickoski posted a video on the occasion of 35 years of independence. “A day has shone brightly! 35 years of independence”, the caption reads.
The video features some of the most significant moments and figures since independence, with showperson Igor Djambazov as the central figure. However, SDSM said Mickoski’s video actually celebrated the state-building policies of that party.
“Kiro Gligorov is in the video. Macedonia’s greatest state achievements are in the video. The only things missing from the video are NATO accession and the start of EU negotiations”, the party stated.
In response, however, VMRO-DPMNE said the video carried a message that united, adding that SDSM was once again taking the “wrong side”. Sunday also saw the official start of the program marking 35 years of independence with a concert in Ohrid.
