Another seven individuals have been named suspects in North Macedonia’s part of the investigation into the smuggling of five tons of marijuana from North Macedonia to Serbia. That brings the number of suspects domestically to 13, while in Serbia six individuals have been charged.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecution of Organized Crime and Corruption said on Monday the new suspects had teamed up with currently unidentified individuals to organize the smuggling of marijuana to Serbia and the warehouse in Konjuh. Alphapharm, the company which held a license for marijuana at the OHIS facility, served as a front, while one of the organizers was a manager of the company, the Office explained.
According to the press release, the individuals used cargo vehicles and customs declarations showing the transport of textile, food, and other types of goods. After the transport of marijuana across the state border, they organized its storage in the Konjuh area near Krusevac, where the marijuana was repackaged and distributed for further sale, the Office added.
