A major wildfire that crossed into North Macedonia from Kosovo overnight is currently burning near the village of Grachani, with a fire line stretching more than five kilometers, Protection and Rescue Directorate chief Stojanche Angelov said.
Skopje firefighters, supported by teams from the Directorate, after excruciating efforts, managed to put the blaze under control. The threat to settlements has so far been ruled out, although smoke and the smell of the fire have reached parts of Skopje.
A major fire in the Lakavica region near Shtip also has been partially contained, while firefighters continue efforts to control a section advancing toward Selce.
