The case concerning the 2019 bus crash near Laskarci has been sent back for retrial after the Supreme Court overturned a ruling by the Skopje Court of Appeal.
At a hearing on September 9, the Supreme Court accepted requests for an extraordinary review of the final verdict submitted by the convicted defendants through their lawyers. The court annulled the April 17, 2025 Appeal Court decision and ordered the case to be reconsidered.
The crash occurred when a Durmo Tours bus left the road near Laskarci, killing 16 people and injuring more than 30.
In May, the Skopje Court of Appeal increased the prison sentence for company owner Bekir Beluli from four to 10 years and for manager Miftari from six to 10 years. Driver Manuel Trifunovski kept his 14-year sentence, while three technical inspection employees received five- and seven-year sentences.
