The state data center will be built near Skopje, right next to one of the industrial development zones. Talks are underway to secure an international financial partner.
Minister of Digital Transformation Andonovski says that the project is in the final phase of defining the location, pointing out that it is situated on unused state-owned land near a highway and fiber-optic infrastructure. In the second phase of the project, the construction of a photovoltaic power plant is also planned, which, as Andonovski explains, would provide 30% to 40% of the required electricity.
In parallel, Andonovski says that work is also underway to establish a legal framework that will track the rapid development of AI and ensure its safe, ethical, and responsible use. The first draft version of the National Strategy for AI will be presented on Friday (September 18).
