On Thursday, authorities presented information about the Filter 2 case. Cigarette smuggling through the Bogorodica border crossing, with the help of customs and police officers, was committed on seven occasions.
69,350,000 cigarettes were released into illegal circulation, which caused damage to the budget of approximately six million euros. The smuggling took place from January to June 2024. The operation saw searches performed at 23 locations across the country, while 13 individuals were detained.
Criminal charges have been filed against a forwarding company, a transport company, and an import company, as well as against 18 individuals. Among them are four customs officers, three police officers, and two trailer truck drivers.
