PM Mickoski’s Addresses October 11 Event in Kumanovo

Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski marked October 11 in Kumanovo with a speech that blended historical reflection with a call for reforms and national confidence. He said Macedonia is “bigger than any political generation” and must unite around strategic goals: modern education, strong healthcare, infrastructure, and institutions that serve citizens.

Mickoski stressed that freedom inherited from the partisans is a responsibility, not a privilege, and that the greatest battle today is to secure a future for young people at home.

He pointed to economic progress, citing 4.3% GDP growth in Q2 2026, exports of EUR 5.74 billion in the first eight months, and average wages rising to 48,499 denars, with a government target of EUR 1,000 by the end of the mandate. He emphasized that inflation in Macedonia remains lower than in neighboring countries, countering claims of “imported inflation”.

On relations with Bulgaria, Mickoski insisted Macedonia seeks equal respect, not concessions, and that dignity, identity, language, and history are nonnegotiable.

“We want a European future, strong alliances and friendships, but with our heads held high”, he said, adding that true partnership is built on mutual respect.

He concluded by urging an end to divisions and small ambitions, calling for bold decisions and a new national self-confidence to build a state that thrives rather than survives.
