Bulgaria will not extradite 23-year-old Iva Mihailova from Kochani, for whom North Macedonia has issued an international arrest warrant, according to Bulgarian Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev.
Bulgarian Ambassador to North Macedonia Zhelyazko Radukov stated in an interview with bTV that though he couldn’t claim that it had been coordinated, he would be exceptionally surprised if North Macedonia’s authorities hadn’t known about Mihailova’s departure for Bulgaria.
PM Mickoski said the response from Bulgarian authorities had shown that the accusations that there has been some deal are unfounded. He added he expected Bulgaria to extradite Iva’s father, Simeon Mihailov, who had been convicted by a final court verdict. Regarding Mihailova herself, Mickoski said he expected her to return and to prove her innocence before domestic courts.
