There has been a new arrest linked to the financial abuses involving eye surgeries. The President of the Management Board of the Sante Plus hospital, Bilal Kara, had his passport confiscated, was banned from leaving the country, and was ordered to report regularly to the court, media reported on Friday. Precautionary measures were also imposed on the remaining eight detained individuals.
“Acting on the order of a competent public prosecutor from the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecuting Organized Crime and Corruption, police officers deprived B.K. of liberty for the criminal offense of money laundering and other proceeds of crime”, the Interior Ministry’s Goce Andreevski said on Friday.
However, following the reports that emerged in the public alleging he had been arrested, the owner of the private hospital, Bilal Kara, issued a denial, asserting that information regarding his arrest was inaccurate, TV21 reported on Saturday.
Earlier, regarding reports that Albania is seeking Kara on an international arrest warrant over suspicions of financial malversations, as well as that he serves as Honorary Consul of North Macedonia to Turkiye, PM Mickoski stated that the case would be thoroughly investigated.
