On Sunday, the candidate endorsed by the DUI-led coalition, Arkin Jahiji, won 4,442 votes in the second round of the early mayoral elections in Brvenica, while the candidate endorsed by the coalition led by VMRO-DPMNE, Stojancho Radichevski, won 4,177 votes, the State Election Commission (SEC) said at a press conference. These are the preliminary unofficial results received electronically from all 24 polling stations across the 10 settlements in the Municipality.
In the second round of voting, turnout stood at 54.29%. SEC President Bojan Marichikj stated at the press conference that the voting had taken place in a fair and democratic atmosphere.
VMRO-DPMNE officials congratulated Jahiji on his victory, but accused his party of imposing ethnic divisions and bringing voters from abroad. According to VMRO-DPMNE, Jahiji received support in these elections from VLEN, SDSM, and Levica. VMRO-DPMNE MP Dafina Stojanoska said VLEN had played the role of a “Trojan horse”.
