VLEN co-leader Mexhiti has responded to statements and political reactions following the mayoral elections in Brvenica, emphasizing that votes represent the free expression of citizens’ will and that no one has the right to treat them as private property. In a post on social media, he dismissed polarizing post-election rhetoric as “post-election folklore” and appealed for dialogue and cooperation in multiethnic communities.
“The elections are over. Today, Brvenica has a mayor, life goes on, and we all return to our responsibilities”, Mexhiti stated regarding the electoral process that was won by the candidate endorsed by the DUI-led coalition, Arkin Jahiji.
