17-year-old Biljana Kirikj and 21-year-old Viktor Guntarov are the two individuals found dead on November 3 in Bogdanci. Kirikj’s body was discovered inside a burned car, while Guntarov was found dead nearby. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, initial indications point to a murder-suicide, though the exact circumstances have to be determined by the investigation. Based on unofficial information, Guntarov hanged himself after setting the young woman on fire.
New details reveal that the tragic event was preceded by reports of physical violence and threats against the minor, and measures had already been taken against Guntarov by competent institutions. He was detained on September 30 after it was reported that he had physically assaulted his 17-year-old girlfriend in his home. A prosecutor was notified.
On October 16, the Prosecutor’s Office also received a report concerning endangerment of the girl’s safety, following which proceedings were initiated, hearings scheduled, and expert evaluations ordered. In the interim, a court issued protective measures barring the young man from approaching or harassing the minor.
According to information to date, the restraining order remained in force on the day of the tragedy.
