EU and US formally notified of New name

“Today, the European Union has formally been notified by the Republic of North Macedonia of its new name, following the entry into force of the Prespa Agreement,” the EU’s Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, and the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, said on Friday. They described the step as historic. The same day, the US Government, too, received official notification of the name change. “Today, the US Government received official notification from the Government of the name change to the Republic of North Macedonia. In accordance, we will begin using the newly modified name immediately and will start the process of changing references on web pages, official documents, and elsewhere,” the US Embassy in Skopje said.
