Enlargement and Brexit will be Croatia’s priorities during its six-month EU Presidency, according to the country’s Foreign Minister, Goran Grlic Radman. When it comes to the former, he stated on Wednesday that despite big expectations by candidate countries, Croatia would support what was realistic and possible. As the Minister added, the process of joining EU does not happen in a day. “We worked hard to meet all the criteria and standards,” he stressed. The following day, at a meeting in Skopje with new Croatian Ambassador Nives Tiganj, the Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs, Bujar Osmani, stated that that expectations were really big and that Macedonia was aware that Croatia would do everything it could to keep the enlargement process high on the EU’s agenda. According to Croatian MEP Tonino Picula, the event in May in Zagreb will be yet another chance to fix the “mistake” made in October in terms of the decision on Macedonia.
