18th Anniversary of Karpalak massacre observed

Delegations of the government, state institutions and political parties observed on Thursday the 18^th anniversary of the Karpalak Massacre, in which 10 soldiers of the Macedonian Army (ARM) were ambushed and brutally tortured and murdered during the armed conflict in 2001. The delegations first visited the place of the massacre on the Skopje-Tetovo motorway where they laid wreaths of flowers, after which they attended a commemoration ceremony in the “Mirce Acev” military headquarters in Prilep. Deputy PM and Defence Minister Radmila Sekerinska addressed the ceremony in Prilep. “Today, with great pain and respect we remember those who gave their lives for protection of our country and its peace. Allow me to express in the name of the Government of North Macedonia our deep respect and condolences to all families who lost their fathers, brothers, sons who protected out country with their very lives. We faced a tragedy which taught us that the peace is priceless, and that even though our society evolves, the painful memories remain, but also the courage of the late colleagues of ours,” Sekerinska said.
