AFET members calls on EU countries to Start accession Talks with Macedonia

Members of the EP’s Foreign Affairs Committee (AFET) have called on EU countries to start accession talks with Macedonia and Albania. The message of the AFET delegation is that both Albania and North Macedonia have done their homework, necessary for a start of accession negotiations. In the press-release, it is said that 2019 is key for the two countries because of the fact that member-states will be deciding in June on their readiness to open negotiations. As it is added, Macedonia and Albania have implemented the necessary reforms under difficult circumstances and it is now crucial for EU members, on the basis of those achievements, to acknowledge the made progress and decide to start negotiations this year.
