Ahmeti, Osmani and Bajrami Testify in Monster Case

DUI Leader, Ali Ahmeti, Deputy PM for European Affairs, Bujar Osmani and Prosecutor, Xhelal Bajrami testified in case Monster. Ahmeti stated that he found out about the quintuple murder at Lake Smilkovsko the following day from mediums. As party leader he was concerned that the situation might escalate after the event, and he discussed on that topic with high representatives from US and EU. “We requested for a repeat of the process, repeat trial because the judges and prosecutors were very delicate, vulnerable and the whole public was in an unclear situation, including the families that lost people in the tragic event, including those of the defendants. We insisted this trial to be repeated with the evidence from the international monitoring We expected the court authorities to resolve and bring the case to light. We, as a political party paid the highest price, everyone accused us that we are connected to the case, there is nobody that wants this case to be resolved because the political price was paid by us,” stated Ahmeti, explaining that DUI wanted nothing more than bring the truth to the surface, for which they had even formed work group whose aim was retrial. Deputy PM, Osmani, in his testimony stated that he only met Haki Aziri’s family once, who was protected witness and is currently accused in the procedure. He stated that the family requested information from him on the whereabouts of his son. Xhelal Bajrami, Deputy Internal Affairs Minister at the time of the tragedy, testified that former Minister Jankuloska in May 2012 held press-conference which was not scheduled after which tensions grew at MoI. Bajrami stated that he does not remember whether he shared information on the case with Ahmeti, however he confirmed he had informal conversations with him at the time. The next hearing is scheduled for 27 February when Saso Mijalkov, Sinisa Aleksovski, Blerim Bexheti, Musa Xhaferi and Zoran Trajkovski are scheduled to testify.
