Anti-discrimination Law adopted After new Protest held by Organisations

Tens of NGOs that are part of the National Network Against Homophobia and Transphobia staged a protest on Monday, calling for urgent adoption of the Anti-Discrimination Law at Parliament’s session. “We urge MPs to take the citizens’ side and vote through the law, as has been announced and promised several times so far. We are revolted by the fact that this law has for eight months been stuck in parliamentary procedure, while PS Talat Xhaferi, for reasons known only to him, hasn’t put up the law for a vote,” a protester said, speaking on behalf of all participants in the protest. Several hours later, Parliament, with 52 votes in favour, three abstentions and zero against, adopted the Law, which is part of the reform package demanded by Brussels.
