Spokesperson of the Constitutional Court Hristina Belovska revealed details about the recent decision of the court to abolish certain articles of the Law on Salaries of State Officials, which allowed the salaries of the state officials to be increased by 78% on average, which will be paid starting with the April salaries. “The decisions of the Constitutional Court are final and must be respected. However, there is still possibility for the lawmakers, i.e. the Parliament to make changes to these laws. The role of the Constitutional Court is to only check whether the adopted laws are in accordance with the Constitution. According to the initiative filed, only Articles 1 and 4 of the law were disputed, not Article 11, which means that the percentage by which the salaries of state officials would increase was never discussed,” Belovska said.
