The new High Representative of the EU for Security and Foreign Policy Josep Borrell said in a letter he addressed to all Foreign Ministers of the EU member-states that one of the main priorities during his mandate will be the integration of the West Balkans in EU. “First of all, we must closely tie the West Balkans to the EU, for the immediate neighbourhood of the EU should be among our top priorities. We must work on overcoming conflicts and healing the wounds from the same, because only that way we can focus on the process of enlargement of the EU. We shall focus on the membership talks with the countries from the West Balkans, and by extension, the resolution of the issues between Belgrade and Pristina,” Borrell writes in the letter.
