Asked in an interview with 24 Casa (24 Hours) whether Sofia’s stance on Skopje could change under potential pressure from the EU, Bulgarian PM Nikola Denkov adamantly said it couldn’t.
In fact, he explained, the issue of constitutional changes was no longer an issue between North Macedonia and Bulgaria. “In fact, the conversation is no longer between Bulgaria and North Macedonia, the conversation is between North Macedonia and the EU,” the Bulgarian PM noted, adding that it was expected for Skopje to fulfil the assumed obligations.
As he stressed, there is no reason for Sofia to change its position. In the interview, there was no question about whether there would be new requirements and conditions for Skopje.
